SIP, the session initiation protocol, is a text-based protocol, similar to HTTP and SMTP, for initiating
interactive communication sessions between users. SIP is the IETF protocol for VOIP and other text and multimedia
sessions, like instant messaging, video, online games, chat, virtual reality and other services.
